Although well made clothing is something I am very passionate about (well, more like well made items in general) the world of Bridal attire was an entirely new experience. My first day at White was a little intimidating to say the least. There were tons of labels I had never heard of and a whole realm of new lingo I have never used. During my few days spent there, I really began to think on the word 'detail' (which is listed below by dictionary.com).

de·tail

  [n. dih-teyldee-teyl; v. dih-teyl or for 13, dee-teyl]
noun
1.
an individual or minute part; an item or particular.
2.
particulars collectively; minutiae.
3.
attention to or treatment of a subject in individual or minuteparts: to postpone detail and concentrate on a subject as a whole.
4.
intricate, finely wrought decoration.
5.
Engineering detail drawing.

Now that the definition's been set straight, does it still mean different things to different people? Typically, when you 'give someone the details' you take the time and effort, to explain the tiny happenings of an event or conversation, making sure to elaborate on all the important parts. BUT does that mean you've explained the 'details' or just what you deem to be significant'? My conclusion is that the two are harmoniously married and one exists, because of the other.

For example, a seamstress spends hours upon hours applying hand embroidered appliqué
to a garment because this detail is significant. This detailing in the eyes of the designer could make or break the top, blouse, pant or in this case wedding dress. This embroidery becomes a detail that is significant to the item which it is being applied.

This also brings to mind the saying 'The Devil is in the Details' but evidently, so is God. Why isn't that stated also? Stop and look at the beauty of a flower petal, or the tiny veins in a fallen leaf and tell me it isn't something magical. It's often the tiny brush strokes in a painting or a particular clasp on a bracelet that causes me to stop and admire it. It's the minute details in life, that make up a very beautiful and significant whole.
