DIY: NIKE SLIDES

(White crop top; Random, High waisted trousers; H&M, Nike Pool Slides; DIY)

In an attempt to revive my drab house slippers (better known as Nike pool slides) I decided to try out a DIY I first spotted on one of my favourite blogs Love-Aesthetics. I bought these slides as a cheap comfy option for beach wear on my two week trip to Jamaica. After two weeks of of rough treatment and countless drunken spills, they were washed and duly relegated to house use only. This is what they looked like prior...

For this DIY you will need;

Leather
Scissors
Super Glue or Glue gun
Ruler
Pen
Notepad

This was honestly one of the simplest DIY's I've ever done. For the most part, I followed the simple instructions of measure, cut and glue. I pretty much used the exact same materials as I'd seen posted with a few additional steps.

The original post I'd seen for this DIY said to use Super glue, however I only had a glue gun so I made it work. My original goal was to make a pair using all white leather. This was more of a trial run, using the cheaper leather first (do you're first measure and cut on a scrap fabric. That way if you make any mistakes, you'll have made them on the more inexpensive material instead of directly onto your precious leather). I also jotted down my pattern measurements so that I have a rough guideline for the future. Sometimes I get swept up into a DIY project and forget to document the small steps, but I always try to make a few notes that I can keep for reference. You never know which DIY project your going to want to repeat again and again!

OH. Before I go, I'm going to leave you with little gem. For those who live in the GTA, I purchased my leather strips from King Textiles on 161 Spadina Ave in Toronto. They have the BEST leather I've found so far for DIY projects. The prices are cheap and they have a pretty good variety.

Happy DIY'ing peeps!
